2008 December > Farm Family of the Year The Heeringa family was named Farm Family of the Year by Peterborough County Federation of Agriculture (PCFA) and Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce.
The Heeringa family is a second generation farming family operating Karlina Farms Ltd., a dairy operation, on 850 acres in the Township of Cavan-Monaghan, on which the family has been farming for 42 years. In addition to their dairy operation, the Heeringas also grow 240 acres of hay, 25 acres of paddock, 80 acres of barley, 80 acres of wheat and 210 acres of corn. The award was presented at the PCFA Annual Banquet held at the Peterborough Curling Club.
